The City of Adel and Dallas County have come to an agreement to work together on meeting the service needs of residents of both the City and County as a whole.
Population growth has led to more demand for county services and the need for new administrative and public safety facilities. After a public measure to build new facilities three miles east of downtown Adel failed to pass last year, the City and County have agreed to participate in the selection, acquisition and preparation of a new administrative building near downtown Adel. The 28E agreement says both entities were contribute funds to the project with Adel pitching in $500,000.
As a result, the City has also agreed to cooperate with the County to bring infrastructure and utilities to the public safety site and operate the Ortonville Wastewater Treatment Facility without cost to the County.
The agreement was approved by both the Adel City Council and the Dallas County Supervisors earlier this month.
The exact timeline for the projects have not yet been released.
