A barn was destroyed in a Friday morning fire in the Menlo area.
According to the Stuart Fire Department, they were dispatched Friday morning at 8:37am to assist the Menlo Fire Department with a barn fire.
When they arrived on scene, the barn was fully engulfed in flames and additional mutual aid was needed. The Dexter Fire Department responded with personnel and water. Crews battled the wind, but were able to get the fire under control, however the structure collapsed causing it to be considered a total loss. Guthrie County Rural Electric Cooperative was also called to remove an overhead powerline ensuring safety of all emergency personnel.
Menlo, Stuart and Dexter Fire Departments, along with Guthrie County REC, Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office and Stuart Rescue assisted with the incident.
