Track & field practice for the Greene County Rams began on Feb. 19 for boys and Feb. 20 for girls. Chad Morton is the boys’ head coach and Derek Merk is the head coach of the girls’ program. Both report strong numbers out for the sport with close to 50 boys and more than 30 girls. With temperatures well above normal recently, both teams practiced part of the time on the Linduska Field track on the Middle School grounds.

Both Greene County teams will be in Class 2A for the track & field postseason. There are four track & field classifications with 4A being the largest 48 schools, then 3A with the next 64. There are 96 in 2A with the remainder in 1A. Paton-Churdan is in 1A.

The Greene County teams have three indoor meets on the schedule in March at the University of Northern Iowa, Iowa State University, and Buena Vista University. One change to the home outdoor meet schedule is moving back the Greene County Early Bird Meet from late March to early April.
