Greene County completed the 2023-24 girls’ basketball season with one win and 21 losses. This marks the second season in a row with a 1-21 record and both times the one victory was vs Saydel (Des Moines). Over the last six campaigns the Rams are a combined 15-115.
The final stat sheet for 2023-24 shows the Rams scored an average of 28.1 points. They allowed an average of just over 58 per contest. The Greene County girls made 24.8 percent of their shots from the field overall, 18.1 % from three-point range, and 44.0 % from the free throw line. The team averaged 26.9 turnovers per game.
Sophomore transfer Becca Anderson played in just five games late in the season after gaining eligibility, then suffered a leg injury that ended her season early. Anderson scored 65 points and averaged a team leading 13 points per game. Junior Emma Shipley scored the most points, 148, and averaged 7.4 points per game. Freshman Makenna Ebersole had 131 points and a 6.2 scoring average. Ebersole was the team leader in rebounds at 7.1.
Injuries and illness hampered the Rams throughout the season with just three girls playing in all 22 games.
