The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers Boys Basketball team raced past the Atlantic Trojans last night 70-49 in the first round of the Class 3A Substate 8 Quarterfinal.

The Tigers captured the first nine (9) points of the game as Sophomore Hudson Lorensen was getting to the basket, finding his rhythm early. ADM went on to score 20 in first quarter, holding Atlantic to six (6). The second quarter saw the Tigers score 23 more, while the defense held up nicely, only allowing 13 points in the first half as ADM led 43-13 at halftime.

Both offenses were rolling in the third quarter, as they each scored 16, and leading scorer for the Trojans, Senior Colton Rasmussen started to heat up from the field. ADM was still in charge at the end of the third, taking a 59-29 lead into the fourth. Tigers Head Coach Trevor Mickelson emptied the bench in the final quarter as ADM was in control. Atlantic’s Sophomore Gavin McLaren found his stroke in the fourth scoring on three straight possessions. ADM would prevail by a final of 70-49 to advance to the Semifinal, which will be played Thursday night back in Adel.

ADM was led by Lorensen’s 21 on the night. Senior Adam Bryte had 16, and Senior Rhylan Stine-Smith tallied 11 points. The top three scorers for the Trojans were Rasmussen with 22, McLaren with 14, and Senior Thomas Leonard, who came off the bench with great energy, contributing with five (5).

Atlantic says goodbye to six seniors on the team, while ADM will be hosting another game Thursday night at 7pm vs. the Carroll Tigers as they knocked off Denison-Schleswig.
