A Scranton man is accused of leaving a work release program in Webster County.
According to the Iowa Department of Corrections, 31-year-old Darren Lehrkamp failed to report back to the Fort Dodge Residential Center on February 3rd. Lehrkamp was sentenced to five years in prison in March of 2023 after pleading guilty to a Class D Felony for intimidation with a dangerous weapon. According to the Department of Corrections, Lehrkamp was admitted to a work release facility on November 17, 2023.
According to court documents, a statewide arrest warrant was issued on February 6th charging Lehrkamp with a Class D Felony for escape from custody. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office reports that a deputy arrested Lehrkamp on Thursday in the 900 block of Locust Street in Scranton at 7:04pm. Lehrkamp will be held in Webster County Jai under a $5,000 cash only bond.
