The Greene County Board of Supervisors met on Monday in regular session.

During reports, County Attorney Thomas Laehn said the newly established opioid settlement committee will meet this week to finalize grant applications and the process to award grants.

The Board then heard an update from Boone and Greene County Probation Services Director Diane Hinderaker. She said that since December, there have been 61 active clients from Greene County, including 28 OWI convictions and 21 drug-related convictions as the two most offenses the program sees. Hinderaker commented on the new community services portion of the program and that for youth it has been successful, including 11 youth doing 152 hours. She requested a 30 percent increase in funding for the 2025 fiscal year and no action was taken on the request.

The Board then approved the semi-annual substance abuse grant for the 2024 fiscal year, and a geotechnical services contract with Terracon for $12,500 was approved for soil boring at the new county jail site. They also heard a 2025 fiscal year budget request from the county engineer’s office and secondary roads, along with receiving ten responses for qualifications for a construction manager at risk for the county jail project. A representative with ISG will narrow the list to their recommendations for the Board to consider to send out reasons for proposals.
