
The PCM (Monroe) basketball teams made the long bus ride to Jefferson on Monday night for a make up high school basketball girl/boy doubleheader in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. The games were heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with PCM winning both ends of the double dip. The girls’ final was 48-26 and the boys’ score was 62-57.
Greene County is now 0-16 in girls’ basketball and played without second leading scorer Emma Shipley, who was injured on Saturay at Manson to Manson-Northwest Webster. The Rams were led in scoring by Becca Anderson with 17 points. Anderson was the lone Ram to score in the game until 18:06 of game time had lapsed. PCM had a 15 point night from Tori Lindsay and 13 by Addison Steenhoek. The Mustangs improved to 14-4.
PCM’s boys are 9-8 while the Rams fall to 1-15. Greene County and the Mustangs were tied 29-29 at the half and the Rams led 45-41 after the end of the third quarter, but the Mustangs responded with a 9-0 run and held the Rams scoreless the first 3:54 of the last period. Brynley Ruzicka was held scoreless in the fourth quarter, but he still led all players with 20 points. Ruzicka made five three-pointers. Fellow senior Gabe Ebersole had 15 points and senior Nathan Behne added 13. The Mustangs had 16 off the bench from Jack Jungling with 15 apiece for Gavin Van Gorp and Cutler Vande Lune. The Rams were without starters Isaac Carman and Trey Schilling with ankle injuries.
The Rams play a regularly scheduled girl/boy doubleheader in State Center tonight vs. the West Marshall teams. Air time is 5:45 p.m. on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalley radio.com. The girls play at 6 o’clock with the boys to follow.
