The AC/GC Chargers boys wrestling team hosted their invitational over the weekend, scoring several points.
Overall, the team collected 143 points, with several wrestlers contributing. Chase Slaybaugh placed 4th in the 113 weight class, bringing in 22 points after falling in the semifinals, and wrestling his way back in the consolation bracket to fall in the 3rd place match. Tegan Slaybaugh took 3rd in the 120 weight class, putting up 23 points after falling in the semifinals, and coming back to take the 3rd place match in consolation.
In the 126 weight class, Gavin Sloss fell in the semifinals, but wrestled his way to the 5th place match, falling to his opponent to secure 6th place and 15 points. Tate Fever fell in his first match, but came back on the consolation bracket to take 1st on that side, bringing in 11 points for the team. In the 144 weight class, Ryder Cline secured 6 points by winning two matches in the consolation bracket.
Angel Martinez scored 3 points in the 150 weight class for the Chargers, before bowing out due to injury. In the 165 pound class, Jackson Pfrang brought in 9 points, falling in the quarterfinals, before taking one win and one loss in the consolation bracket. Michael Fuller was the first of two athletes to stay in the championship bracket, pulling in 28 points and finishing second in the 190 weight class.
Carter Richter added 2 points to the score, falling in his first match to sudden victory, then winning his first consolation match and falling in the second. Payton Jacobe was the second of two Chargers to stay in the championship bracket, winning by fall in his first match, and by decision in the next two, before falling in the 1st place match by one, bringing in 24 points for the team with the 2nd place finish.
