The Dallas County Conservation Board has plenty to offer with their raptor exhibit, featuring an owl available for public viewing.

The Forest Park Museum is a great place to visit to learn about species in their natural habitat. The Museum’s Raptor Exhibit is open to the public to check out a barred owl. The museum doesn’t allow for guests to get too close or handle the owl, but viewing from a distance is good.

Also, the owl visits the elementary schools in Dallas County to teach students about the bird plus get a closer look at it. Dallas County Conservation Outreach Coordinator Sarah McKeever says that the owl is in the indoor enclosure for now while she familiarizes herself with the space. McKeever comments on the time she’ll be moved to the outdoor enclosure.

“So if you’re hoping to see her in her outdoor enclosure, I’d recommend waiting until spring, March or April is when we’ll be letting her into that outdoor enclosure.”

The hours at Forest Park is Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm, but the outdoor exhibit is available anytime due to the nature of it being outside.
