A multi-housing project in Jefferson has seen some major progress in the northwest side of town.

Andy Rowland of Rowland Construction Company purchased the land near the water tower from JCorp and has started to build two of eight single family homes and one of three, fourplexes. Jefferson Building Official and Code Enforcer Chad Stevens says the one aspect that helped Rowland with this project was receiving workforce housing tax credits.

“Which makes these projects in towns the size of Jefferson a little more feasible. Kind of fills that gap between what it costs to build and what they appraise for or what you can sell them for. First year he did not receive those tax credits. Just had to kind of make a few updates and applied the second year and he did receive the tax credits.”

Stevens points out Rowland has other rental properties and single family homes in the community, but this one is a combination of the two styles. He believes the entire project is estimated to be completed in two years.
