The Greene County Medical Center recently announced a new behavioral health counselor.

Mary Koch is a licensed mental health counselor and is a life-long Greene County resident, born and raised in Churdan. She received an associate’s degree from Iowa Central Community College, followed by a bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services and sociology from Buena Vista University. She also has a master’s degree from Walden University in clinical mental health counseling.

Koch has been training and working in mental health for over ten years and after the covid pandemic, she took a job with Better Help Online to continue to work remotely. However, she missed the in-person experience with patients and she decided to come back to Greene County and join the medical center.

Koch will start in her new capacity on January 31st. Common reasons for behavioral health counseling include attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, stress, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, grief, family or relationship problems, and substance abuse, among others.
