The Perry School District is planning to reopen this week for the first time since the January 4th shooting at the high school.

The district has put a schedule together for the different school levels, and was recently approved by the School Board. The elementary school will have students return to the classroom today, with early dismissal at 2pm and continuing until further notice. PACES will also resume its normal schedule today from 6am-6pm. Tomorrow is when preschool starts back up again with the morning session beginning at 8:10am and the afternoon session at 11:15am.

Middle School students will resume classes tomorrow with early dismissal at 1:45pm until further notice. High school students are scheduled to return next Wednesday with early dismissal set for 1:45pm until further notice.

According to the Perry School District’s website, each level has several requirements. Elementary students are not allowed to enter the building prior to 7:45am unless under direct supervision of a proper school district employee. Students will need to use the main entrance by the west flagpole. Students and visitors for PACES will go through the main office.

Middle school students will not be invited to enter the building prior to 7:30am without supervision from school staff. The only two entry points for the middle school are through circle drive or through the Performing Arts Center.

High school students also cannot be on the premises prior to 7:30am with students only being able to enter and exit through the main door under the blue bricks on the west side of the building off 18th Street. Both the middle and high school students must leave the building within 15 minutes after the last bell unless accompanied by a school staff member. The district will continue to implement its Emergency Plan.
