Winter break and winter weather kept Greene County’s high school bowling teams from competing for more than a month, but the Rams are back at it today with a trip to Ida Grove to face OABCIG at Ida Bowl. Greene County is 4-1 in boys’ bowling and 0-5 on the girls side. The Falcons are 0-3 in both girls and boys bowling, but the OABCIG girls have posted higher scores than the Rams, while the boys’ totals have been comparable.
The bowlers will be busy this week with a home match on Thursday at Spare Time Lanes in Jefferson vs. Emmetsburg, followed by a make up match in Jefferson on Friday with Ankeny. John Woodford is the coach of the Greene County bowlers and both the girls and boys programs are in their first year. Bowling’s postseason begins in just three weeks, on Feb. 12-13, with State Qualifying competition.
