The Greene County Development Corporation Board met Tuesday in regular session.

The meeting started with an update of services with the new Small Business Development Center Regional Director Kirsten Case Fuller. Then during reports Greene County Medical Center CEO Chad Butterfield said they hired a new behavior health counselor, Mary Jo Koch, based on the needs of the community. Greene County ISU Extension Director Lori Mannel shared that they are looking to hire a new summer assistant and a part time summer program coordinator. Also during reports, the Rippey Library is going to host a chili cook-off on January 27th from 11am-1pm.

Next, GCDC Executive Director Ken Paxton reported that with the proposed new rental units with KCG Companies in Jefferson, that a follow up meeting was scheduled with Wild Rose Casino about housing needs. He said that they are in a place that is comfortable to move forward with hiring a director for the Multi-Cultural Family Resource Center. Along with that, Paxton pointed out that the Jefferson City Council approved a $5,000 per year for three year pledge and allowed the director to be housed on the northside of the lobby at City Hall. The Greene County Supervisors are taking GCDC’s request of $5,000 under advisement as they set up their budget. He added that GCDC is looking to publish a report of the projects that they have been involved with over the years.
