The Mary J Barnett Memorial Library is preparing for its first Lunch and Learn of the year.
Library Director Jerri Hawkins says that after the stress and hustle and bustle of the holiday season, she hopes that this Lunch and Learn’s topic would be a great fit for those that are looking to try and relax now that things are slowing down. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio why she wanted to go with the topic of mental health for this Lunch and Learn.
“I just felt like it was a great opportunity to work with Guthrie County Public Health and get a program here in the library that was free for people to come and ask questions and find out about ways that there is help here available to you in Guthrie County. So I just am really excited to work with Guthrie County Public Health on this, and I’m hoping we can find some help for people in the area that might be struggling with mental health, or know someone that’s struggling, and they can help give them some guidance on where to go for that assistance.”
Hawkins mentions that while Guthrie County Residents would benefit most from the information shared at this month’s Lunch and Learn, the majority of the programs that the library holds are open to anyone who would like to attend. She asks that anyone planning to participate in the Lunch and Learn on January 10th from noon to 1pm please contact the library to let them know, so that they can make sure they have enough food to provide for the light lunch.
