The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has released the name of the deceased victim from Thursday’s shooting at Perry High School.

According to a press release, following an autopsy performed by the State Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased sixth grader as 11-year-old Ahmir Jolliff who died as a result of three gunshot wounds. The other deceased individual was 17-year-old Dylan Butler from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The DCI confirms that two additional individuals were injured from the shooting, for a total of seven victims. Among those, three are school staff and four are students. One of the injured is High School Principal Dan Marburger who remains in critical condition.

The investigation reveals that Marburger acted selflessly and placed himself in harm’s way in an effort to protect students. Principal Marburger and two other students remain hospitalized, while the other victims have been released. The investigation remains ongoing at this time with the DCI.

At a press conference held earlier today at Hotel Pattee, it was announced that high school classes will remain canceled all next week, while elementary and middle school classes will resume next Friday. Additionally, grab and go lunches will be available for students from 11-12:30pm while classes are canceled. The elementary school is the pickup site for all grab and go lunches.
