Greene County and Paton-Churdan School Districts are no longer locked down Thursday.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio that after being notified of an active shooter situation at Perry High School Thursday morning, he contacted the Greene County and Paton-Churdan School Superintendents at 8:22am and told he didn’t believe there was a credible threat to either school district and then he let them handle the situation however they wanted.
Both Greene County Schools Superintendent Brett Abbotts and P-C Superintendent Kreg Lensch decided to put their buildings in lock down, meaning no one was allowed to enter or exit the school buildings. The Greene County School District was still on winter break, but Abbotts tells Raccoon Valley Radio there were staff working in the buildings until the lockdown was lifted around 9:53am. Lensch says this was the first day back from winter break for students and they were in lock down until right before 9am.
Williams says deputies were sent to P-C School this morning due to students being back in session and he anticipates having a presence at the school through next week.
