A new youth team with Dallas County ISU Extension has performed well in its inaugural year.
Dallas County Extension K-12 Outreach Educator Kathy Rottinghaus says the first Lego League team competed at their first tournament earlier this month in West Des Moines and qualified for the state contest next month. She explains that in Lego League, the six middle school students from across Dallas County are tasked with building and maneuvering a robot that must complete a series of challenges. Rottinghaus shares her thoughts about how well this group is doing.
“It’s been pretty great watching them get excited and all the kids working together, and having fun as they are doing it.”
According to ISU Extension and Outreach, the first Lego League State Championship takes place January 28th in Ames.
