US Legislative leaders continue to work on getting spending bills passed, but one Senator says that progress has been slower than it should be.
Senator Chuck Grassley says that the House of Representatives has passed seven out of twelve appropriations bills, while the Senate has only passed three out of twelve bills. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio why they should continue with this process.
“We ought to be working on separate appropriation bills instead of one gigantic appropriation bill that we call an omnibus bill at the end of the year. Now, that end of the year would be January 19th. Now, I think it’d be reasonable to say that maybe some of the twelve, particularly those that are very small appropriation bills, could probably be put in one omnibus bill at the end of the year, but the vast majority of our spending should be done by individual appropriation bills.”
Grassley explains that if they continue to work through the bills, and just stick to the process they’re using, both Legislative Chambers should be able to work through the bills by January 19th.
