The first snow event for the season brought a little over one inch of snowfall to Greene County.
County Engineer Wade Weiss says the Secondary Roads Department was out this past weekend plowing and treating the roads with its sand and salt mixture. Weiss was pleased with how the operations went as the county typically sends out 12 plow trucks and 12 maintainers to clear and treat the county roads during a snow event. He appreciates the work that the Secondary Roads Department does.
“We have an excellent staff (and) we’re full staff. The only issue is those guys are on-call from November 1st to April 1st, so they’re very limited of what they can do and their time off during that time.”
Weiss adds that during the most recent snow event this past weekend, crews were out in the morning both Saturday and Sunday, as well as Sunday afternoon doing final passes of the roads.
