Greene County and Ogden played a basketball non-conference doubleheader in Ogden on Monday night in action heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Bulldogs won the girls’ game 60-37 and completed the sweep by taking the boys’ contest by a 64-46 final. It was the season opener for both boys’ teams and game number two for the girls.

Tori Ogden’s Greene County girls trailed 17-14 in the second quarter, but a 10-0 run by the Bulldogs to end the second half expanded the advantage for Ogden to 27-14 at intermission. It was a 44-22 game at the end of third quarter. Sophomore Jordyn Crossman had 31 points and Aubrey Leonard, also in tenth grade, added 15 points. Junior Emma Shipley had 12 points on four three-pointers, all in the second half, to lead Greene County. Junior Payton Kokenge scored 10 points and freshman Makenna Ebersole had eight points and seven rebounds.

The Ogden boys led 25-19 at halftime before the Rams scored the first 12 points of the second half to take a 31-25 lead, but it didn’t last long. The Bulldogs answered with a 17-0 run to regain control and they rolled to the victory. Brady Van Sickle came off the Ogden bench and scored 18 points with 17 for Carson Van Sickle. Keaton Westberg scored 11 points.

Senior Brynley Ruzicka had 17 points for the Rams including five three-point field goals. Junior Isaac Carman had 11 points and six rebounds. Foul trouble hurt the Rams, and they were out scored 17-4 from the free throw line. Greene County had 25 turnovers while Ogden turned the ball over 22 times.

The Rams open the home portion of the schedule tonight vs. Panorama (Panora) in the high school gym in Jefferson. Both games can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 5:45 p.m. The girls play at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.
