The Guthrie County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council has been in place since the previous Board of Supervisors declared EMS an essential service last year.
Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arber has been one of many on the Council that have been working together to draw up a proposal that would be beneficial not only for the County, but for the current EMS services that are already in place. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that with the many meetings that they’ve had, the Council is looking to have a proposal ready in the near future.
“We’re hoping to have a proposal into the Board of Supervisors by the beginning of the year, so that gives us time to get everything lined up for the election in November. We know that a lot of folks are probably frustrated and feel like there hasn’t been a lot of movement on all of these things, but we are trying to do our due diligence to make sure that we’re including everybody that we can.”
Arber mentions that there have been a few hiccups along the way, but that with many talks with the different entities that would be involved, there is progress being made. He explains that the biggest thing that the Council wants to make sure happens with this proposal, is that what is proposed is first of all sustainable, and meets the needs of the entire County and those living and working in it.
