The AC/GC Chargers basketball teams are preparing for the season, and the juniors will be expected to step up and help the seniors lead the team.

On the boys team all four juniors are returners from last year. Jathan South played in 22 of the team’s games, recording a field goal percentage of 42.6%, a three point percentage of 34.4% and a free throw percentage of 100%. He also tallied 24 total rebounds, 12 assists, 12 steals, 3 blocks and 57 points. Noah Kading started in all 25 of the team’s games, with a field goal percentage of 44.8%, a three point percentage of 29.5% and a free throw percentage of 70.8%. He had 136 rebounds, 61 assists, 21 steals, 14 blocks and 218 points.

Payton Policky started in 4 games, and played in all 25, going 63.6% from the field, 50% from behind the arch, and 60.6% from the charity stripe. He pulled in 139 rebounds, 13 assists, 14 steals, 11 blocks and 199 points. Mason Wahl played in 10 games, shooting 33.3% from the field and from the free throw line. He recorded 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 3 points.

Shay Lemke is the only returning junior for the Chargers, as she was the only sophomore last season. She started in all 23 games, going 28.9% from the field, 26.2% from beyond the arch and 57.4% from the charity stripe. She also pulled in 77 rebounds, dished out 68 assists, stole the ball 69 times, blocked three shots and put up 202 points.
