A program to cultivate leaders in Greene County recently completed.

Greene County ISU Extension Director Lori Mannel says the 2023 Greene Leadership program had 27 graduates and included 13 businesses that were represented. She was happy with the makeup of the individuals who participated.

“This year was a piece of cake and boy did we have a great turnout. We had a variety of men and women, a variety of ages, a variety of backgrounds, and that just makes it really powerful class to learn from each other.”

Mannel says the program was over four weeks in October and ended with a capstone speaker with Aaron Thomas, son of the late Aplington-Parkersburg Head Football Coach Ed Thomas.

“And he talked about making a difference, not only for yourself but in your community. It was a very powerful message and very well received.”

Mannel thanks Junction Hilltop Farm for sponsoring the leadership program to help individuals give them the necessary tools to be successful in their professional and personal lives. The next program will take place in three years.
