Greene County boys’ basketball held Media Day on Thursday. Head coach Chris Nelson is in his eighth season season the program here, and he starts his 17th overall as a head boys’ basketball coach in Iowa. Nelson graduated from Jefferson-Scranton High School, and his first year assistant, Wade Adcock, is a Greene County HS grad who played for Nelson.

The Rams were 10-13 last season and ending seasons with more wins than losses has been a challenge in recent years. The Rams graduated, although they have had upper division finishes in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference recently, including last season. The top two scorers from last season graduated in Richard Daugherty and Jesse Miller, but others with varsity experience return in seniors Gabe Ebersole, Brynley Ruzicka, and Trey Schilling. Juniors who saw action in at least half the games were Noah Hinote and Isaac Carman.

Greene County opens the season on Nov. 27 at Ogden as part of a girl/boy doubleheader.
