The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School Board met in regular session Monday night.

The Board approved two full time associate positions for Adel Elementary School for the rest of the school year. Superintendent Greg Dufoe says the additional associates will help to provide support for special education students.

The Board then approved the 2022-23 insurance audit report, renewing an annual agreement with the Regional Academy Supplementary Weighting with the Des Moines Public Central Campus, and purchasing new iPads to replace older models for all students at Adel Elementary, using Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) funds. Additionally, the Board approved purchasing a John Deere Activities Utility Vehicle for $11,201 to replace the current vehicle to be used for different athletic events. The Board also approved the new site survey for a new high school to be built, which includes a boundary and topographical surveys done with the land that is being considered with a purchase agreement.

The Board then heard from Adel Mayor Jim Peters with the ADM Alumni Association about their proposal to purchase a new “victory bell” and the Board agreed to have them pursue the purchase. They also reviewed the election results from last Tuesday’s school elections and they reviewed the initial draft of the 2024-25 school calendar, with no action taken by the Board following the review.
