The National FFA Convention was held in Indianapolis, Indiana at the beginning of the month, and the Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center FFA Chapter was able to send several members.

Sophomore Lucy Knutter shares what the group did while they were at the convention hall.

“We went around the convention a lot. There was an expo hall, so you got to see all the different kinds of projects people worked on, and also the shopping mall. So there were a lot of different vendors, which was really fun. And the session, sitting in on those are kind of fun. There’s a lot going on in there.”

Senior Issabelle Rouse had an opportunity to play in the National FFA Band, having earned herself the principal trumpet seat. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about the experience

“It was really fun. We had kids from over 35 states, and it was fun seeing all the different types of people come into the band and work together to create beautiful music.”

Senior Tucker Carroll was excited for the trip, and mentions what he was looking forward to once they got to Indianapolis.

“Definitely one thing that I wanted to do at the convention was meet new people from all around the United States. It’s definitely diverse, coming from Iowa and meeting different people from, like, the East Coast, the West Coast, and different places like that.”

While senior Bo Arrasmith was excited to make the trip for the convention, there were a few things outside of the planned convention events that he says he enjoyed doing.

“This is my first time going to (the) National Convention. I’d say one of my favorite things was the tours. I liked seeing the Indy 500, and we actually got to be on the track. And then we also got to head over to Ozark Fisheries, and they told us how they raise all the different kinds of fish, and they produce it, and then they send it out to other vendors. So that was pretty cool.”

All four students tell Raccoon Valley Radio that for anyone interested in FFA, and especially those that may be in the organization and are interested in going to the National Convention, it does take some hard work to get there, but it is worth every moment once you get there.
