For the first time ever, Greene County High School sponsors the sport of bowling. The Rams will have girls and boys teams with practices and home meets at Spare Time Lanes in Jefferson under the direction of coach John Woodford of Spare Time Lanes, Jefferson’s only bowling alley. Official practice for bowling begins today. Activities Director Dave Wright is in his second year here after more than a decade as A.D. in Bellevue, IA, which has had the sport for several years.
The A.D. told Raccoon Valley Radio he saw kids that either bowled recreationally being given a chance to be on a school team, and others who wanted to bowl for the first time. He added several bowlers on those teams were in very few, if any, other school activities, so it gets more kids involved.
