Dallas Center – Grimes football was able to find a quality 2023 season, one which saw the team find a 3-2 district record and a 4-5 overall record, a two win improvement from the 2022 season. There were many different players that were able to find a productive year, and here were some key leaders across the board.

For offensive leaders senior Ty Mikkelsen lead the team in passing with 1,166 yards and 10 passing touchdowns as well. Senior Eli Carpenter led the team in rushing with 829 yards and 10 touchdowns as well, and senior Dayne Mauk was able to lead the team in receiving with 26 catches, 348 yards, and six touchdowns.

Defensively, there were a lot of standout performances on the year. Mauk was able to be one of the finest defensive players in the state, leading DCG in tackles with 74.5, tackles for loss with 11, and tied for the lead sacks with four. Senior Aiden Charlson was able to also put up four sacks, eight tackles for loss, and 44 tackles. He also led the team in fumble recoveries with two. Senior Lane Nelson also accounted for 48 tackles and seven tackles for loss.

Junior Tate Perrin was able to lead the team in interceptions with nine, with that tally also being the best number in 4A and the second best in the entire state no matter the class.

DCG will be graduating 16 seniors from their roster, but with good talent coming back along with quality talent at the JV and Freshmen levels, they will be looking to see if they can find a winning record in 2024.
