Don and Jean Van Gilder as E.B. and Minnie Wilson

The Greene County Historical Society is getting into the Halloween season with a special Sunday program.

Four county residents will portray long deceased individuals who have direct connections to Greene County as part of a “Happy Haunting” program. Nicole Friess Schilling will take the role of Eva Leonard, who was from Grand Junction and became a Broadway singer and dancer in the 1920s and 30s. She died mysteriously in New York City in 1947.

Other participants include Roger Aegerter as General Nathanel Greene, who served during the Revolutionary War and is Greene County’s namesake; and Jean and Don Van Gilder who will be portraying E.B. and Minnie Wilson, who were a lawyer and a high school principal respectively and Wilson Avenue is named after them. Additionally, Rick Morain will play Halloween music on the piano and Gine Harrington will read various poems.

The free program takes place at 2pm on Sunday at the Greene County Historical Museum in Jefferson.
