A reminder that a community-wide Halloween-themed event is happening tomorrow in Jefferson.

The festivities will begin at the Greene County Community Center with a Halloween Party with games, prizes and candy from 3:45-5pm. Then kids and families can head to the downtown square from 4:30-6pm for Spook the Loop. People can walk counterclockwise around the square and enjoy candy and other treats from businesses and organizations.

The Jefferson Public Library will have a new skit performance in the basement from 5-6:30pm based on the story, “Bruce and the Legend of Soggy Hollow.” Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount describes the book series with Bruce as a grumpy bear who lives in the woods with mice who try to get him with their shenanigans.

“For this story they (the mice) decide that they want to do a play to get him in the Halloween spirit and they call it the ‘Legend of Soggy Hollow’ which of course is a play off the ‘Legend of Sleepy Hollow.’ And instead of your headless horseman, because we’re keeping it kid-friendly, they call him the horseless horseman. Because his story is that he lost his horse one night and went out into the woods looking for it and never found it. So now he runs around the woods asking people if they stole his horse.

Children can also get candy in the youth services department while they are waiting to see the skit that runs every 20 minutes. Finally, there are going to be musical performances at 6:30pm at the Greene County High School auditorium with the middle school band, followed by the seventh through high school vocal performance. Everything tomorrow night is free and open to the public.
