Drake University women’s assistant basketball coach Kelli Greenway was the speaker at Monday’s Rotary Club of Jefferson noon meeting at Jefferson Community Golf Course. Greenway is in her second season with the Bulldogs and is a former head coach at NIACC (Mason City) and Grand View University (Des Moines).

The Bulldogs won the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title last season as the tourney’s number four seed and advanced to the NCAA tournament. Greenway told Rotarians that three very good seniors graduated from the 2022-23 squad, but nine players return, plus a grad transfer player and incoming freshmen, are new to the squad so the expectations are high. The schedule is tough with games against Power 5 conference teams, Iowa, Iowa State, and Minnesota. The coach added she feels the non-conference schedule helps prepare the Bulldogs for the MVC season as well as the postseason.
