The Iowa Pork Producers Association is hosting a unique experience for elementary school students across the state.

On Thursday, October 26th starting at 10:30am, they will be hosting an educational virtual visit to a pig farm.

Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation Education Program Director Alex Osborn will lead the class, as she tours a Benton County farm. The children will learn how farmers keep the pigs safe, what the buildings look like, what the animals eat and several other things. To help educators make the most of the opportunity, a kit and associated resources will be sent to teachers, to help them see and teach that agriculture isn’t a one day thing, but can be used to help explore science and social studies concepts.
