The AC/GC Chargers cross country teams recently competed in the West Central Activities Conference conference meet.

The boys team came in 2nd place, with all scoring runners placing in the top 25, with seniors Andrew Mahaffey and Lance Bunde leading the way, with 8th and 10th place finishes respectively. The girls team was able to bring home a 4th place finish, with junior Ava Campbell securing a 7th place finish, and senior Hayden Coffman collecting 17th place.

The football team is on the road tonight, as they finish the regular season in Corning against the Southwest Valley Wolves. Leading the Chargers in passing and rushing yards is junior quarterback Jathan South, with 6 completions on 17 passes for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns in the air, and 828 yards and 12 touchdowns on 86 carries. Senior running back Anthony Solorzano leads the team in receiving yards with 4 receptions for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns, and adds 693 yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground. Fellow senior linebacker Tegan Slaybaugh leads on the defensive front, with 49 total tackles, 2 of which are for a loss of yards, and one fumble recovery.

For the Wolves, senior Evan Timmerman leads in passing and rushing yards, with 21 completions on 52 pass attempts for 314 yards and 3 touchdowns in the air, and 74 carries for 332 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground. Fellow senior Isaac Currin leads in receiving yards with 11 catches for 204 yards and 3 touchdowns, and adds 233 yards and 1 touchdown on the ground. Sophomore Wyatt Mendenhall leads the team defensively, with 40.5 tackles, a fumble recovery and 5 interceptions.

This is the first time that these teams will be playing against each other, so it’s a first look into what the future may hold, with their game for next season already being scheduled. The Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network will follow the team to Corning, broadcasting the game on the KKRF2 online live stream. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
