The final home volleyball matches of the season were held last night for both Greene County and Paton-Churdan, and it was Senior Night for both. It was both Senior Night and Pink Out Night for breast cancer awareness at Greene County, and Senior Night at P-C.

Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s Rams hosted Perry in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play with the Rams winning in straight sets 25-12, 25-17, 25-11, to improve to 14-10 overall and 5-2 in the conference, good for third place in the eight team league. The Jayettes end at 2-5 in HOIAC action and they are 8-24 on the season. Lila Osterson had a big serving night for the Rams with runs at the service line of seven and six unanswered points. Payteon Kokenge had back-to-back ace serves as the Rams rarely trailed in the match. Set two was tied 13-13 before the Rams closed it out with a 12-4 run. Next up for the Rams is the Winterset Tournament on Saturday. They open Class 3A Regional tournament play on Tuesday, Oct. 17 in Van Meter vs. the host Bulldogs at 7 p.m.

Coach Makayla Spaar’s Rockets were in Churdan vs. non-conference opponent Eagle Grove. The Rockets lost in three sets by scores of 12-25, 20-25, and 8-25, and are now 0-11 in matches and 0-33 in sets. The win was just the second in 17 matches for the Eagles. Coach Spaar reports Kaliyah Minnihan had two kills for the Rockets and Grace Cullum had six digs.
