The City of Jefferson is working on a new program to help alert citizens with city information and emergency situations.

City Administrator Scott Peterson says city staff is developing a notification system whenever there is an emergency, such as a water main break with a boil advisory, or routine city information that residents can be contacted directly. He talks about what residents can do if they want to join this service.

“What we’re doing is we’re trying to undertake an effort to get as many email addresses and especially cell phone numbers from our residents so that we can do this. There are programs out there that certainly allow for mass texting and can really help us out and quickly spreading this information to the public.”

He adds that a resident’s contact information will remain confidential and not given to any third parties. You can use the QR Code or click here, which will take out a form to fill out your contact information with your name, street address, email address and cell phone number.
