The Perry Bluejays fell last night on the gridiron 21-0 against the Atlantic Trojans on the road at the Atlantic Trojan Bowl at Atlantic Middle School. The loss is Perry’s 6th straight putting their record at 1-6 overall. The Bluejays fell behind 14-0 in the first half early after a couple of touchdown runs by senior running back Dante Hendrington. Perry had a tough time stopping Atlantic on the ground. Trojans quarterback Zayden Parker completed a couple long passes to senior wideout Colton Rasmussen that set Atlantic up in the red zone before the two rushing touchdowns from Hendrington. Perry did have a big goal line stand in the first half that prevented the Trojans from extending their lead even more, as they went into the locker room down 14-0.
In the second half, Atlantic continued to chew the clock and pound the rock. Parker found Rasmussen deep for a touchdown pass that extended the Trojans lead to 21-0. The defense had a pretty solid night for Perry. Offensively, the Bluejays struggled to put points on the board with a lot of self-inflicted wounds.
Perry will be back at home at Dewey Field for their last 2 games of the the regular season. They will take on Knoxville next week, and then will close their season at home against Creston. I will provide updates and a preview of the Knoxville matchup next week when we get closer on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
