A Glidden man was recently arrested in Jefferson for allegedly illegally driving and possession of drugs.
According to court documents, a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop just after midnight on October 3rd in the 900 block of West Harrison Street in Jefferson. The traffic stop was due to a malfunctioning taillight and having a mangled license plate that appeared to have expired registration tags.
Court documents show that during the stop, the deputy found out that the driver, 55-year-old Dale Spaulding, was barred from driving in Iowa and was arrested. A passenger in the vehicle was allowed to walk home, due to not having a valid license. Spaulding then gave the deputy consent to search his vehicle and found drug paraphernalia that had a white and burnt residue on the clear broken glass pipe. Spaulding claimed the items weren’t his because lots of people drive the vehicle that he had and that he was borrowing the vehicle.
Court documents show that Spaulding was charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance violation, an aggravated misdemeanor for driving while barred, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Spaulding was booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
