A juvenile has been arrested in connection with a threat Thursday morning against West Central Valley High School in Stuart.
According to the Stuart Police Department, officers and the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the high school at 10:54am on a report from a threatening note that was found by a student. As per the school’s protocols, the high school went into a lockdown so that the building was secured, until law enforcement determined the scene was clear.
During the investigation, law enforcement collected physical evidence and identified a person of interest. The person that was believed to have been involved confessed to writing and leaving the note and the threat was not deemed credible. The juvenile suspect was then arrested and charged in juvenile court with a Class D Felony for Threat of Terrorism. Due to the juvenile’s age, the name of the suspect is not being released at this time. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
Law enforcement does not believe there is a connection between Thursday morning’s incident and the other threat that was made against the school last Thursday. The Stuart Police Department appreciates its relationship with the West Central Valley School District and continues to strengthen that relationship.
