A large Greene County field fire brought several fire departments Friday afternoon.

Captain Shane Allen with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office says he and some deputies, along with Jefferson, Grand Junction, Jamaica, and Bayard Fire Departments, and Greene County Ambulance responded to the blaze at 2:25pm in the 1600 block of 320th Street. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio the fire originated in a corn field that was being harvested when the combine made contact with something and the fire was then sparked. He estimates about 120 acres of crops were destroyed and another 30 acres were used to help control the flames.

Allen notes no one was hurt in the incident. He adds that 305th Street between P Avenue and Quest is back open to traffic.

Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
