An iconic structure in Jefferson is winding down its full time hours as we are in the fall season.

The Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower will only be open for regular hours on the weekends in October. The tower is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-4pm. Admission is $5 for adults and anyone 18 years and younger are admitted for free, due to the sponsorship of the Victor Zike Trust and Rosalene (Kay) Zike Trust.

Additionally, the public is invited to a special event on Monday, October 16th from 10am-2pm, where anyone who visits the bell tower does not have to pay an admission fee. This is because it is the bell tower’s ceremonial “birthday” when the dedication happened on October 16, 1966. Live music will be performed on the bells from 12:15-12:30pm that day. 

Once it is November, the bell tower will be closed but is still accessible for a tour by calling the Welcome Center with Jefferson Matters at 515-386-2155.
