Another new business in Jefferson was recently awarded with a start-up grant.
The Studio is a hair salon that is owned by Kelsie Wearmouth and Chuck Foster. The business is located at 110 West Lincoln Way, just west of ReMax Legacy and Midwest Behavioral Health Services, and the building is owned by Nikki Uebel. The Studio received a $3,500 grant through the Jefferson Wants You Incentive Fund.
The building itself has undergone lots of improvements, including painting the tile roof and windows of the exterior and refurbishing the interior with antique furniture and paint to fit the style of the Studio. Wearmouth brings several years of experience, as she managed a salon in Ames and worked as a cosmetology educator. The Studio will offer haircuts, highlighting, root color, balayage, bright colors, curly haircuts, men’s cuts, hair extensions, kid’s cuts, up-styles, perms, and facial waxing.
The Jefferson Wants You Incentive Fund is for new businesses to offset the start-up costs. Businesses can apply for up to $5,000 in grant funding. Click the link below to see the application form.
