Dallas Center-Grimes High School has celebrated homecoming all week long and now they turn their attention to football to close the festivities tonight.
The (2-3) Mustangs will have a big test as they will take on the (4-1) Norwalk Warriors and each team will be looking for their second district win. Dallas Center-Grimes is coming off a win over Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson by a score of (35-0) and the Mustangs really did a nice ground running the ball on 45 attempts for 200 yards. Senior Eli Carpenter has reached over 100 yards in three games in a row. DCG Head Football Coach Scott Heitland says that the offensive line can take some of the credit for the success on the ground.
“To do that three nights in three weeks in a row is really great to see. We’d be remiss not to mention those guys up front, too. And, you know, Eli’s just been really doing a good job of running the football and then that group up front. Eli Rupp, Carson Duey, Aiden Charlson, Drew Assink. And then Friday, the other one was not Allen Huinker in there because he was injured. But they’ve just done such a great job.”
The Norwalk Warriors have been one of the biggest surprises in Class 4a for how well they’re playing. They’re led by senior quarterback Aiden Harder and he has already eclipsed 1,400 yards passing on 148 attempts this season. He will be throwing it to his favorite target which is sophomore Eli Robbins. He has caught 29 passes for 617 yards and four touchdowns this year. Raccoon Valley Radio will be broadcasting this matchup on our KDLS-2 mobile stream which can be found on our website and also on the KDLS app. Pregame starts at 6pm and kick off will be at 7pm at the Mustang Stadium in Grimes.
