The City of Perry has a completion date for a major project they have been working on.
Five years ago, the Perry City Council approved a $28 million dollar reconstruction project to get the wastewater treatment plant, which was built in the 1960s, in compliance with the new Iowa Department of Natural Resources standards. Public Works Director Josh Wuebker says that the project is eight months behind schedule from the effects of the pandemic supply chain problems. Wuebker says their completion date for the project is now June of 2024. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they are waiting for electrical components.
“A lot of this stuff is all specialty equipment. So with them getting parts maybe from overseas for one part or this or that, it just everything gets backlogged. It’s, you know, we kind of saw it with vehicles. And so vehicles are finally starting to catch up. That’s the same thing with this.”
Wuebker says other than the supply chain problems, they are pleased with how the project is coming together.
