The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The Board heard an update from Guthrie County Conservation Director Brad Halterman, which included him sharing that the department was applying for grants to help bolster funds in certain areas, and that the shooting range at Bay Branch had been permanently closed. So they were going to order and install signs at county owned areas about no skeet shooting or target practice. They also heard an update from County Treasurer Brenda Campbell, including proceeds from the out-of-county fees for those renewing or applying for a drivers license, that totaled $1,490.

The Board then approved the Treasurer’s Semi Annual Report, and a tax abatement of a property in Menlo next to the fire hall. They then heard from Polk County Public Works Sustainability Planner Allison Van Pelt, who informed them that Guthrie County sits inside the area designated as the Des Moines Metropolitan Area, and told them what that meant, and listed some benefits of it as well. The Board also heard from Denise Ballard with Iowa Government Health Care Plan about different options with the company, and what kinds of things could be provided.
