The Guthrie County Extension & Outreach Office has released the results of its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program that helped area families properly file income taxes this year.
The program also collected and organized appointments for individuals in Greene and Carroll Counties, and it ran from January 23rd until April 10th.
With the three counties combined, 168 income tax returns were prepared, and the total federal Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) claimed reflected a total federal refund amount of $216,492. State refunds from these tax returns totaled $39,667.
According to Guthrie County Extension Office staff, two IRS trained and certified volunteers–local residents Larry and Phyllis Davis–are most to thank for the existence of the VITA program.
Anyone with questions about the VITA tax results from this year can call the Guthrie County Extension Office at 641-747-2276.
