At the midpoint of the 2023 high school volleyball season, the Greene County Rams have posted a 10-6 overall match record. Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s team is 2-1 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference with a trip to Story City tomorrow to face Roland-Story. The match with the Norsemen could go a long way in determining where both squads finish in the conference standings.

With heavy graduation losses from the 16-11 team of 2022, and just two seniors on the team this season, some may have predicted a downturn in the win column, but that has not been the case. Coach Heisterkamp points to the leadership and play of Kaylee Stalder and Graci Cooklin, the two seniors. “Those two have been such great leaders for us, and they are playing so well. Kaylee has always been a standout outside hitter, but now has grown into the role of being on the court most of the time. Graci has been outstanding in the back row digging the ball and passing, and her serving is good, too!”

Thursday’s match is the third straight conference road action after the Rams won in Monroe vs. PCM and at Jewell against South Hamilton last week.
