A stretch of White Pole Road that had been under construction recently opened back up.
Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern says that the Iowa Department of Transportation performed a complete reconstruction of the two mile stretch of White Pole Road between the two sections of Highway 25. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio it’s good to have the road open again.
“It’s a new pavement and stuff, so just be aware and keep your eyes peeled, just be cautious. It’s new, but yeah, it’s good to have it back opened up and get the traffic patterns flowing back the way they were. Anytime you close a road like that, it sends traffic off in various directions on local roads. So we’re very happy to see that open back up and getting traffic flowing on the primary route.”
Sebern mentions that his department and several other County Engineers in Iowa have submitted an application for a grant, and are hoping to hear back next spring on whether they were awarded the grant. He explains that with or without the grant, there will be some work that is done to White Pole Road, mainly trying to remove ruts in the pavement caused by heavy traffic from heavy vehicles like loaded semi trucks and farm equipment, as White Pole Road is a farm to market road.
