A Des Moines man was recently sentenced to prison for an incident that happened in Greene County.
According to court documents, 32-year-old Nathan Pote pled guilty to a Class C Felony for first degree theft. He was sentenced to ten years in prison and that sentence was to run concurrently with another felony case in Polk County.
The charge stemmed from an incident on August 9th. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a stolen Century Link truck that was in Rippey. The vehicle was reported stolen from a Century Link employee in Des Moines. The company’s GPS system found the vehicle in Rippey. A Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy found Pote sleeping inside the vehicle and when questioned, Pote said he owed someone money and saw an opportunity to leave Des Moines. Pote’s backpack was also searched and drugs were found.
Court documents also show that as per the plea agreement, Pote had a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance violation, habitual offender; was dismissed.
